The GPS system by itself has no coordinates on its own. Some of the technophiles have a great interest in how GPS systems work simply out of curiosity. However, outdoor enthusiasts, pilots, sailors, and geocache people need GPS coordinates. We all just put the address in and follow the directions, or we geotag photos automatically and the electronic devices take care of the rest. ![]() The majority of us never have the need to use GPS numerical coordinates as we benefit from the location-based services available. The lines of longitude show how far east or west you are. This is a system that divides the Earth’s surface in separate lines of latitude, and this shows how far off the equator in south and north directions you are. The GPS coordinates are plainly known as longitude and latitude.
